Depending on the ingredients, facial mists can be cooling, soothing, balancing, hydrating and even mood boosting.
On summer days so hot you would like to just be in a cool pool of water all day, these refreshing mists are true life savers. In airconditioned environments such as flights, they will protect your skin and prevent lines while keeping your tan alive longer.
The DIY Bonus: Unlike store bought products, these sprays are inexpensive, all natural, without any chemical add-ons.
All these recipes can be used as either toners – use cotton pad to swish over face and under eyes after cleansing – or refreshing mists.
Where possible, use therapeutic grade essential oils.
Important: Use distilled water – to keep bacteria from forming and make sure to store mist in well cleaned glass containers to ensure shelf life. Alternatively, you can also use Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) – it has an extra refining, soothing and cleansing effect for your skin, great for oily skin, acne, inflammation and insect bites.
Always shake well before use.

Recipe for Rosewater Facial Toner Mist Spray
Soothing for sensitive skin, instantly relaxing with its harmonious scent.
1/2 cup pure water
3-4 drops organic essential rose oil
2 drops organic essential citronella oil (alternative: organic essential lemon oil)
Theoretically, rosewater can be used as purchased. Some brands are quite intensive though, and others are not organic and might therefore contain unwanted chemicals. This is why I prefer to make my own blend.
Good quality essential rose oil is quite potent, add drops one by one to find your preferred intensity.
Best to be used chilled.
Store refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
