Recipe: DIY Meal Replacement – The Better-Than-Slim-Fast-Shake!

Rezept-Schoko-Shake-Der-Besser-Als-Slim-Fast-Drink-Grüner-Schokoladen-Smoohie-Rohtopia

This smoothie is so delicious, so filling and rich in nutrients that it can replace an entire meal!
As the title suggests, it is NOT a Slim Fast Shake though but something much better 🙂
A chocolate smoothie, raw and vegan is delicious super sweet, fills you up and requires no chemical additives!

Ps. To always make a perfect smoothie, read this, but let’s get on with this awesome recipe first:

Recipe: DIY Meal Replacement – The Better-Than-Slim-Fast-Shake

Ingredients for this DIY Meal Replacement Shake:

250 ml almond milk
1 cup mixed salad greens or fresh spinach
1 banana, frozen
1 cup berries, frozen or fresh
2-3 TBSP chia seeds, soaked
1 TBSP agave syrup or a few drops of stevia, or 2 soft dates
1 TBSP raw cacao

How to make this DIY Meal Replacement Shake:

Chop the banana into pieces.

Blend with the remaining ingredients.

The chia seeds may be blended or just stirred in at the end for a “bubble tea chocolate shake” effect 🙂 (give them 20 minutes to become jelly like)

    • Thank you Ava!

Agave is certainly not the first choice of sweeteners these days, the tests that were done in respect to its benefits were not totally objective though.
I also believe it depends on the amount. If you are on a standard diet, and eat “everything”, you will be ingesting corn syrup left right and centre – it’s kind of everywhere.
If you are health conscious though, and have a tea spoon or even a table spoon of agave – with a LOT of other stuff that is DEFINITELY good for you, your body will be able to handle agave just fine.

      All the best,

      Lisa

LG

  • Hello,

Can this be prepared in a large batch for the week, or a few days, or must it be done daily?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Jen, this recipe will keep for 24 hours if refrigerated – you can prep a whole day’s worth of smoothie the night before, and store it in thermos containers if you live in a warm climate, that will keep your shake nice and cool all day even if you are out and about. If you do choose to make a bigger batch, I would also suggest to start with the basic recipe, without cacao, and pour 1 portion of that into a container. Then either blend the rest with berries for a berry-shake, put another portion aside and blend the 3rd part with cacao for a berry-chocolate-shake, or blend the basic recipe portions individually for even greater flavor variation 🙂
