These little beauties are stashed away in the fridge so they don’t melt away in the summer heat over here in Australia .. no need for that in my home country Austria I guess 😋
Recipe for Walnut Marzipan Chocolate Bites
Ingredients for 20 coins:
200g raw marzipan
1/4 cup xylitol or palm sugar
1//2 cup chopped walnuts
100g raw chocolate
optional: a teaspoon of rum
halved walnuts to decorate
How to make this recipe:
Mix all ingredients except the chocolate by hand into a smooth dough.
Roll into a log and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Melt the chocolate over warm water.
Slice the dough log into 5mm thin pieces and dip them into the chocolate.
Decorate with 1 half walnut each.
Chill in the fridge until serving.
You can also use other nuts, such as hazelnuts or almonds instead of the walnuts if you wish.
Notes:
C = cup, 240 ml
1/2 C = half a cup, 120 ml or / TBSP
1/4 C = quarter of a cup, 60 ml or 4 TBSP
TBSP = table spoon, 15 ml or 3 tsp
tsp = tea spoon, 5 ml
“soft dates” = medjool are usually best. If necessary, soak briefly and drain. The soaking water is super sweet by the way!
