Smooth, sweet and oh so refreshing. This orange sorbet recipe is sugar free and full of orange flavour. Made with real fruit only, it’s a great, low fat alternative to regular ice cream. Expect it to be done in minutes, and devoured in seconds.
RECIPE FOR ORANGE FRUIT SORBET
Ingredients:
2 oranges
2 bananas
1 tsp vanilla essence
How to make orange sorbet:
Slice oranges in half and spoon the flesh into a freezer safe container.
Peel the bananas, chop and add to the oranges.
Place the orange shells and the container with the bananas and oranges in the freezer, and let them freeze for at least 1 hour.
Once frozen, get the orange flesh and bananas out and into your food processor or blender.
Add vanilla and blend using a tamper.
Spoon the blended sorbet into the frozen orange shells, serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 week.
Notes:
C = cup, 240 ml
1/2 C = half a cup, 120 ml or / TBSP
1/4 C = quarter of a cup, 60 ml or 4 TBSP
TBSP = table spoon, 15 ml or 3 tsp
tsp = tea spoon, 5 ml
“soft dates” = medjool are usually best. If necessary, soak briefly and drain. The soaking water is super sweet by the way!
