What's your biggest challenge when it comes to holistic wellbeing and feeling good on all levels? Is it eating healthy, is it moving your body regularly, are your own thoughts holding you back, your environment, your family? The most common reply to this question is: Implementing healthy eating into everyday life - especially when people live with family members who are not interested in eating raw, vegan or vegetarian foods - or anything that looks just the slightest bit of "healthy". Personally, I've been lucky enough to almost always have supportive and even more, curious people around me. However, I also lived with someone for a while who was almost hostile towards my raw vegan creations, at a time when I was very excited about raw...

I love this type of latte, warm and frothy, over ice, in cookie recipes, and anywhere else coffee is used, even in Tiramisu it tastes great and is perfect for those who want to avoid coffee or caffeine. Where are my Chia Pudding lovers? If you haven’t tried this, now is the time! This recipe is absolutely delish, ands easy to make - however, here are my best tips to always make perfectly creamy chia puddings 🤤 ✨Make sure to use fresh seeds. If your chia seeds are stale, they won’t absorb as much liquid as fresh ones. ✨ Keep stirring. Chia seeds need to be well soaked in liquid in order to absorb it. If you don’t whisk the chia seeds and liquid together well enough, you may end up with chia seeds sitting at the top or bottom of the bowl, either dried up or clumpy. ✨Be patient. The pudding is ready once it has doubled in size. 30 minutes is...
To be honest, a smoothie bowl is basically a thick smoothie with pretty decoration. However! If you have a tendency to gulp down your smoothie like there's no tomorrow, and tend to feel bloated afterwards, a smoothie bowl is actually a great choice. By eating it with a spoon, more like you would do with a regular meal, you slow things down. This can support your digestion and reduce the chance of balloon belly 🤗 Recipe: Breakfast Smoothie Bowl Ingredients for this Green Smoothie Bowl:⠀⠀⠀⠀ • 1 cup spinach • 1 tsp wheatgrass • 1/2 cup plant milk • 1/2 mango or apple • 1 banana • 1 tsp cinnamon • (optional) plant based protein powder Toppings: • Raspberries • Mulberries • Coconut...
Salad lovers – what’s your trick to a delicious combination? For me, different textures and flavours are key. Give me a bit of softness, some crunch, a dash of juicy and a spoonful of creamy with a mix of spicy and sweet, sour and even a little bitterness – which is actually good for you too, did you know? Benefits of bitter foods: ⟁ Bitter foods stimulate the digestive tract and help with food absorption ⟁ There is evidence that they work like probiotics in your gut and help fight bad microbes such as candida, fungus, bacteria and parasites. ⟁ Bitter food will also help regulate blood sugar levels and hunger, therefore reducing sugar cravings. Some bitter foods I love: Kale, cabbage, brussels sprouts,…

Why raw vegan milk? Ever since I first tried almond milk, the question for me is rather - why NOT? Plant-based milk is incredibly versatile, tastes sensational and is suitable for cold and warm dishes, such as creams, puddings, sauces and soups. You won’t find neither lactose nor cholesterol or traces of hormones and antibiotics in plant milk. Instead, it offers an abundance of vitamins, minerals and trace elements, including digestion-supporting enzymes, bio-available proteins and calcium. Talking of calcium - according to studies, cow milk does not actually strengthen your bones, but instead even reduces your bone density, and countries with the highest consumption of animal dairy products also sport the highest numbers of osteoporosis! Unlike animal-derived dairy products, plant milk (with the exception of...
As opposed to ice cream, be it raw vegan ice cream or regular, a sorbet is usually made without (plantbased) milk or any fat. Instead the ingredients consist of fruit puree or fruit juice, water and some sort of sugar - perfect for anyone on a plant-based diet. Frozen chocolate delights however were a no-go for the longest time as all recipes contained milk or cream. Finally someone smart came up with vegan chocolate ice cream and let me tell you, it is de-li-cious! But what about a sugar free Dark Chocolate Sorbet, made with three ingredients only? There are a few things I could enjoy (almost) every day. Raw, dark chocolate and ice cream or sorbets are two of them. Ice cream I already loved...
An apple a day ... la di da ... we all have heard that saying before. Now since eating just apples by themselves is lovely yet, after a while, maybe a bit ... well, plain, and only apple slices with nut butter or Apple Crumble isn't a true solution for breakfast lunch and dinner neither (a close call though, and may have happened once or thrice before), here's a simple yet delicious salad with apple for you. The best varieties of apples to use here are ones that are sour yet sweet, and have some crunch, such as Pink Lady or Red Delicious. If you choose to go for a more tart variety like Granny Smith, I would suggest to possibly reduce the amount of...
Recipe for CBD Chocolate Brownies Alright first things first, these CBD chocolate brownies will not make you high. They are also not baked (yep, lame stoner pun intended). They are however very likely to make you want to have a second one. And a third. While they are like a 2.0 version of Space Cakes, they are also sophisticated enough to be served at a dinner party - rich, fudgy, chewy goodness with a thick chocolate layer on top, yet vegan, free from gluten and refined white sugar. It's also super rewarding to see people's faces when they first bite into the amazing texture of dense chocolate and soft brownie base, and even more when they discover how completely wholesome these CBD chocolate brownies are....

Sweet, golden deliciousness - not from bees. You'll be pouring it onto everything, as a spread, on ice cream, in smoothie bowls, etc. You may now say, real honey is healthy though. But did you know it takes around 60.000 bees traveling a total of 55k miles or 88.000 km, visiting over 2 million flowers, to collect enough nectar for just half a kilo or 1 pound of honey? And did you know that most commercial honey is actually highly processed, might even contain additives such as corn syrup, and is not really beneficial anymore at all? Well, this spread actually contains spices which are anti-inflammatory, just like raw, unprocessed honey. They can also assist with digestion, bloating, reduce stress and improve brain function. And...
Is there a season fo chocolate? Of course, autumn, winter, spring and summer. Is there a perfect time for chocolate? Yes - now! This recipe is for raw vegan chocolate with cacao paste, also known as cacao liqueur. Cacao paste is the purest form of chocolate. It is made from peeled and ground cacao beans, and if you are after 100% chocolate, this is exactly it. Otherwise, add a bit of liquid sweetener of choice, plus some cacao butter or coconut oil. Cacao butter will make the chocolate harder and allows it to stay solid at warmer temperatures, coconut oil softens the chocolate but will also let it melt at room temperature - it's best stored in the fridge. You can also add some sea...

Kimchi is kind of the Korean version of sauerkraut, and traditionally not vegan or raw - but this version is! Kimchi works well in salads or wraps, with a dip such as hummus and some crackers, or you can just eat it by the spoonful straight from the jar. In Korea, a family's kimchi recipe is a well hidden treasure - therefore there are hundreds of varieties, depending on the main vegetable ingredient, the season and the region. Another factor for the final product is also the fermentation process: temperature and length of fermentation will have an effect on how your Kimchi will taste like. Fermented foods such as this raw vegan kimchi are a great addition to your diet as they support your digestion with their...

Yes, yes, YES! When life gives you lemons .. make lemonade, lemon cake, lemon sorbet, lemon CURD! Lemons are like a ray of sunshine on your taste buds, they help your body's alkalinity, contain fiber and vitamins, and are a fine ingredient in countless sweet and savory recipes. An even better name for this recipe might actually be Medicine Cake. It contains so many anti-inflammatory ingredients such as the lemons as well as Irish moss, coconut, turmeric and honey - so next time someone's sick, make them this cake! Lemon curd is a dessert spread similar to jam, yet quicker to make, and will delight you as a breakfast spread, on cake, as a filling for pancakes, swirled into yogurt or turned into ice cream. This little cake is a great treat and is a perfect birthday cake to bring along - this was personally tested, thoroughly, multiple times. Just to be sure .. You might be concerned about the small size of this cake but do not worry - due to the high content of nuts and coconut, small portions will already be satisfyingly filling. You would though not he the first one to help yourself to seconds. Or thirds :-) If you are sensitive to cacao, use carob instead - you can also change the frosting to a dark frosting by swapping the lemon juice for carob or cacao. Recipe for raw vegan Red Velvet Cake Ingredients for the cake: 1 C brazil nuts, ground 1.5 C coconut...

In my house, ice cream is timeless - it works for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all year round. As a kid, I actually begged my mum's friends to buy me ice cream because I loved it so much, and the only holiday photos with a me smiling were the ones where I also had a huge bowl of ice cream in front of me. These popsicles are nothing like the ones you'd find at the shops though. They are free of white sugar, food color or additives and therefore actually good for you! Ingredients for 2 popsicles: 1/2 cup Oat milk 1 cup Mixed berries Liquid Sweetener to taste How to make the popsicles: Blend all ingredients and pour into popsicle containers or cups and...
When I was a kid, our family spent several summer holidays in Greece, indulging in the beautiful scent of herbs and trees, blue seas with amazing beaches, the white stone buildings with blue doors everywhere, and of course, food! Tzatziki is one of my favourite Greek dishes, refreshing, full of flavour and easy to make. This recipe is one of many raw vegan milk recipes you can create. It is a raw version of the traditional dish, with plant based yogurt - you can find a recipe HERE. When checking the ingredients list of granola power bars, you often discover things in there that aren't really that healthy - heaps of sugar, flavour enhancers, more calories than a regular meal but way less nutrients. Raw vegan power bars on the other hand are mostly made with nuts and therefore contain a lot of fat. The usual suspects are almonds, cashews and walnuts - not a lot of variety really. This recipe on the other hand is made without sugar or nuts and incredibly versatile. You can pimp the basic recipe shown below to your heart's desire, be it with chopped dried fruit, sesame, chia, cacao nibs or spices and superfoods such as cinnamon, cacao, matcha or acai. The bars are awesome to bring...
Coming from Vienna, Apple Strudel was omni present in my upbringing. This recipe is similar, yet way faster and easier to make than a classic strudel. All you need is a base (and you can even skip that if you wish - simply place the filling in bowls and cover with the crumble), the filling and the crumble. Plus there is need to bake or refrigerate for hours before diving in! The vanilla sauce is what apple strudel would be served with in Austria; sometimes you will also get it with whipped cream (recipe HERE) or ice cream - such as raspberry coconut ice cream! Ingredients for the base: 1/2 C almonds or cashew nuts 1/2 C buckinis or coconut flakes 2 TBSP honey or other liquid sweetener...

Classic (sprouted) Chickpea Hummus is one of my staples, too good not to eat pretty much every week, with veggies or spread on crackers and raw bread or in a wrap. For me, good bread is made with only a few natural ingredients, soft yet firm on the inside, with a crunchy shell. With this recipe for gluten free bread, you will never have to be without delicious, soft bread surrounded by a crisp crust. If you are using your blender all the time, like me - for smoothies, ice cream, soup, spreads, nut milks, bliss balls, etc - this trick will save you tons of time. The trick with making blender cleaning easy is to at least rinse the container straight after using it. Like that, whatever you were blending will not get dry and sticky. So just give it a rinse if you are in a rush and do the rest later: Add 1 drop of dishwashing liquid and 1 cup of water to the container. Blend on high for half a minute. Rinse with fresh water. The container should be nice and shiny - if there is still some residue left, clean it with a dishwashing sponge...
It's hot, everyone wants ice cream, but shops on sell regular brands with artificial ingredients that you don't like? Make these in 5 minutes and enjoy for the rest of summer :) This recipe is too easy, fresh and fruity plus it's got chocolate - how can life get any better than that? All you need is kiwi fruit, chocolate and wooden popsicle sticks. How to make the popsicles: Peel kiwi fruit and cut it into 1 cm thick slices. Gently stick onto popsicle sticks and freeze. In the mean time, melt the chocolate or make a fresh batch - HERE is how. As soon as the liquid chocolate is ready, get the kiwi out of your freezer and dip it into the chocolate. Return to...
What would you say to people who drink plant based milk? Great idea! Ooooh, which flavour? Mmh, delicious, may I have some? You may have seen chia seeds in the supermarket already - they are available in black and white, and some call them little dinosaur eggs because they kinda look like that. The truth couldn't be further though - chia seeds derive from the chia plant and are rich in omega 3 amino acids - perfect if you are eating vegetarian or vegan. Chia seeds are also incredibly helpful when preparing plant based cremes, custards or puddings ( - they absorb liquids just like flax seeds and turn everything into jelly. This is also the reason why recipes with chia seeds will keep you full longer, and this is why I love chia puddings and everything chia! This cardamom vanilla pudding tastes sensational, but you can...
Gluten free pancakes, dairy free, without eggs, vegan and even rawlicious? Yup, totally possible, with a focus on LICIOUS - DELICIOUS! If you too aren't a fan of bananas, use some that are still light yellow, and not too ripe (the riper, the stronger the taste), and add more cinnamon to it. And regarding the raw vegan ice cream, cinnamon also works really well in there, or 2 TBSP of raw cacao powder, or frozen strawberries - pink ice cream is pretty and tastes divine! Ingredients for raw vegan pancakes: - 3 large bananas, peeled - 1/2 cup ground flax seed or 3 TBSP psyllium husk - 1 tsp cinnamon - a bit of water How to make raw vegan pancakes: Blend all ingredients in your high...
I am all for easy, quick + simple recipes full of green goodness - but every now and then, it is CAKE TIME, especially if one of your best friend's birthday is around. When I got invited to a potluck the other day, it was crystal clear what I would bring - Mango Cheesecake with chocolate marbling. For the base: 1 cup Almonds, chopped 3/4 cup Dates, chopped 1 TBSP cacao Sea salt Preparation of the base: Process all ingredients in a food processor or blender. This recipe is my contribution to Movember - say what? Movember (www.movember.com) is all about mens health in terms of prostate and testicle cancer - and kale is an excellent food to boost your health, reduce chances of disease and also nourish you back to health faster if necessary: Kale contains over 45 antioxidants, the phytochemicals lutein and zeaxanthin, vitamin A, C and K, beta-carotene, calcium, folate, iron, magnesium and potassium - and some of that in far larger quantities than you’ll find in most other veggies. Kale delivers 4 times more magnesium and calcium than Brussels sprouts; more Vitamin C than carrots or spinach, and it contains more folate than broccoli (source: McCance and Widdowson’s ‘The Composition of Foods). Kale is also full of fiber,...

This recipe is beautifully versatile, just use whatever you have available. You could even swap the cashew nuts for hemp seeds or coconut milk or fresh coconut jelly and blend that with the curry powder and the other spices to a creamy sauce.

What is a quince? This bright yellow fruit (Cydonia oblonga) belongs to the same family as apples and pears. It has its origins in South-West Asia, Turkey and Iran but grows on trees all over the world these days. Quince in tropical countries and Asia is soft and juicy and can easily be eaten raw just like apples. In colder climates, such as Europe and North America, quince has a tougher rind and astringent flesh which does not make it toxic but too acidic and bitter to be enjoyed in its raw version. Quince is laden with vitamin A and antioxidant vitamin C which boosts immunity, reduces inflammatory conditions and viral episodes. The fruit is also a great source of copper, potassium, iron and magnesium as well as B...

Do you love juice? Are you maybe on a juice cleanse? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions - what do YOU do with all the pulp? For the longest time, I just threw all juice pulp out but then it occurred to me that I might as well use it in some recipes. After all, it's a ton of fiber with still a bit of nutrients and flavour left. First attempt: Juice Pulp crackers Turned out, there is actually a LOT of flavour left and if you want to intensify it even more, simply go half and halves with fresh veggies or add a bit of matching juice. The variations are endless - literally, because you will always have new combinations...

Irish Moss is awesome! Not only will it make your sauces, smoothies, dressings and puddings creamy and reduce the fat content of your cakes, it is also nutrient rich and has healing powers for your skin and your whole body. Irish moss (Chondrus crispus) is known to soothe and aid gastrointestinal issues and inflammation such as ulcers or gastritis. It also increases your metabolism, helps with respiratory infections, is rich in calcium, folate, iodine, iron, magnesium and potassium. Irish moss is also richer in sulphur-containing amino acids than any other seaweed. Such amino acids, e.g. taurine are often lacking in vegetarian diets. It supports healing of joints, inhibits arteriosclerosis and is great for your connective tissue - hair, nails, skin - use it as a mask if you suffer from eczema, sun burns, rashes or...

The chickpea (Cicer arietinum) is a leguminous plant of the family Fabaceae. Chickpeas are rich in protein and one of the earliest cultivated vegetables - 7500 years old remains have been found in the Middle East. The benefits of chickpeas: Chickpeas are low in fat and sodium, but rich in complex carbohydrates and fiber. Thus they keep the blood sugar levels in balance and can lower cholesterol - a good choice for diabetics. In addition, chickpeas are a great source of protein. Combined with oats or barley, they offer all the amino acids and are therefore great for vegetarians and vegans. Chickpeas are easy to sprout and can then be used in wraps and to make crackers or hummus. This recipe is a variation of...

There are many more seeds that can be sprouted though and it is very easy and inexpensive to do. Give it a go! WHY SPROUT? This recipe is super easy, quickly done and excellent for hot summer days. Sage is part of the mint family and has been used as a medicinal herb for thousands of years. In ancient Egypt, it was being used as a fertility drug whereas Greeks knew it to help stop bleeding of wounds and cleaning of ulcers and sores. Sage is valuable for nervous diseases and fevers such as typhoid fever. Sage juice, tonic or tea is also recommended to gargle with when suffering from a sore throat, cough or hoarseness as well as to relieve nervous headache. Herbalists recommend...
Even though fresh foods are better, there are times when it is close to impossible to eat healthy - when traveling, on trains, on planes, on highway stops, and often enough, also at work. For many of us, the solution is to have an “emergency” energy bar in our bag / drawer. Or 3. But fact aside that they are totally overpriced, most of these bars are just pretend-healthy and, most importantly, do not really taste great. What to do? Make your own! It is inexpensive, surprisingly easy, you can make a large batch of several flavours at once - and create the bar of your dreams, completely personalised so to speak! Here is how it’s done: Recipe for 18-20 raw vegan protein bars Ingredients: 2...
Chances are, green tea is nothing new to you. But have you tried the Matcha variety? It is green tea in powder form and contains caffeine like all green teas. It also contains amino acids - which bind the caffeine and help your body digesting it. Matcha is very rich in anti-oxidants and contains lots of nutrients such as the already mentioned amino acids = proteins, chlorophyll, iron, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, B2, B3, vitamin E and vitamin K. Matcha is not truly raw; the young leaves are steamed dry in the process which is likely to heat them too much to keep the raw quality. As it is mainly used for taste and, despite its bright green colour, completely natural, this shouldn't be too much...
If you do not live in a big city, chances are that gluten free wraps - let alone raw vegan ones - might not have made it to your home town yet. Collard greens or nori sheets are a great alternative, but every so often, I do like a crunchy yet soft shell for my wraps. This recipe is easy with only a few ingredients, and can be adapted depending on what you have at hand! Ingredients: 1.5 C carrot pulp OR grated carrot 1 red capsicum, chopped 2 C water - use less if grating fresh carrots, and possibly a bit more if using the drier pulp 1 C flax meal 1 TBSP cumin 1-2 TBSP coconut aminos or tamari Storage: Store in...

Do you know this "plastic cheese", processed and yellow and single wrapped? It doesn't really taste that great but for some reason, it ends up in fridges again and again. Here is an alternative to the store bought version. Raw, vegan - dairy free, and also soy free! So if you ever crave those cheese slices again but prefer to nourish your body, try this recipe, it is fast and easy to make. Recently, I was on the beautiful Honduran island of Utila, in the middle of the Caribbean. I was there to teach and train freediving - hondo means deep in Spanish so Utila is a great place to be, whether for scuba or freediving. And when I think about the Caribbean, I think tropical, lush fruit in abundance - which is true, but only for what's in season. Right now, there are lots of avocados and limes, juicy and ripe, meaning they are actually quite yellow and not green (and unripe) like most of us know them from the store. So what to do with these ingredients other than guacamole or a green smoothie? A RECIPE FOR RAW VEGAN KEY LIME PIE! Ingredients for one raw...
Sweet potatoes are originally from Central America - and in Peru, archaeologists discovered some from a time before the Incas. In the 1500s, when Shakespeare was around, they were regarded as an aphrodisiac and today they are so popular that the US state North Carolina made them their official vegetable in 1995. Sweet potatoes contain more beta-carotene than any other vegetable, even more than the carrot, and are also rich in vitamin A. If you have already tried them, you might be wondering just like me, why the potato, with so little flavour that one might even call it bland and boring, is still used so much - at least in many European countries. In the U.S., Canada and New Zealand for example, there are...

[vc_column]Whether you have seen the term in a recipe or on a tiny bag in an organic store (for a ridiculous price), buckwheaties or “sprouted” granola seem to be everywhere these days. Or at least in my world 🙂 What many do not know though is how easy and quick it is to make them yourself, for a fraction of the price of store/bought buckwheaties.

Ok this recipe is seriously the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever had. Well, at least if you love a lightly crunchy outside and a slightly sticky, gooey, moist inside plus really good, dark chocolate chips! The recipe is best if dehydrated but you can also alter it if you do not have a dehydrator or oven with super low temperature. The good part about the dehydration here is that unlike other recipes that require dehydration, this one is done in 3 hours (nothing "over night") So what I did was to put half the batter into the dehydrator, and the play with the rest, modifying it into a 2nd, non-dehydrator recipe - perfect! Here's how you make these healthy* puppies: * healthy...

Whether you have never tried green smoothies or whether you have been enjoying green smoothies for a while already, you may have stumbled across this statement as well: Green smoothies are dangerous! Green smoothies are unhealthy - green smoothies are poisonous! Now the big question is of course - is that true? Luckily, no. It is not true. Green smoothies are actually great for you and can transform your health. But how did anyone come up with the idea that green smoothies could be bad for you? Oxalic Acid! Leafy greens contain oxalic acid, especially spinach, beetroot and chard. Since oxalic acid has been linked to kidney stones, it would be easy to say that therefore green smoothies provoke kidney stones. But oxalic acid can also...

When it comes to the question of juicing vs blending, there are two parties – some are strictly for fresh juices and call smoothies fads, others love nothing more than a creamy smoothie and think little of juicing.
For many, the only difference between smoothies and juices is that a smoothie is creamy and a juice is a thin liquid, but whether there are any advantages or disadvantages in juices or smoothies often seems to be unclear.
Have you been holding off drinking delicious juices because you don’t have a juicer? The wait is over, here’s how I make the most lovely green juice easily, without a juicer!Hast Du bisher keine leckeren Säfte getrunken weil Du keinen Entsafter hattest?

Teeth whitener: Considering bleaching to get pearly whites? Rub banana peel on your teeth instead. Do this for about two minutes twice a day when brushing your teeth and you’ll skip the chemical treatment any time....
